HAIR Anthropology

ARTIST INFO:

My research focuses on studying hair's historical role as a sustainable fiber resource beyond its conventional use in wigs.

I have been investigating how humans have utilized this remarkable material throughout time, and why. Specifically exploring how cultures shape our view of it as Trash vs. Treasure.

By unraveling these historical narratives, I intend to present different perspectives and contribute to a broader understanding of hair and its future as a natural resource.

As a hair artist, I've dedicated the last several years to meticulously studying historical texts and practicing the intricate art of braiding hair strands into exquisite jewelry, once popularized by Queen Victoria.

However, learning this craft has come with challenges, primarily due to the scarcity of instructions and the limited availability of specific tools. As a solution, I've developed modern tools, techniques, and tutorials to ease the learning process for anyone eager to delve into the historic and captivating world of hairwork.
